Tiffany & Co. Resort Cancún

For Tiffany & Co.’s summer concept resort stores, we crafted a distinctive design that harmonizes our eclectic aesthetic with the brand’s timeless color palette. Inspired by the ocean and its vibrant marine life, we infused the space with elements that evoke a sense of place, creating a narrative that breathes life into every detail. This thoughtful integration of natural beauty and iconic design ensures a captivating and memorable experience for visitors.

LOCAL IS LOVE

We celebrate Tiffany’s approach to sustainable materials and local techniques to develop unique, sophisticated and elegant customized spaces.

Connecting with local craftsmanship helps us promote sustainability and support artisans. The use of native fibers and organic materials is mindful of our ecological footprint within a design production context.

We believe objects and interior spaces should be clearly involved with a unique context that reveals a certain signature. This gives spirit and life to the matter and also constitute the space with elements in the company of their own story.

ABSTRACTION PROCESS

For the summer concept resort stores, Balmaceda developed a proposal that conjoins its eclectic style with Tiffany’s classic iconic colors schemes and design.

We started thinking about the most predominant element in the area, the sea and all the life inside it.

The Riviera Maya is one of the most beautiful places in the world. And it’s because of its colors.

It’s a blast of contrast between deep blues, pinks, oranges from beautiful sunsets, and electric greens, with a sophisticated touch of whites and soft sand colors.

Our core idea is the power of water, its force of erosion and ability to modify matter through time. Water changes the size and shape of things, creating canyons, valleys, furrows, caverns and giant abysses or cliffs. Almost every beautiful landscape we can find on earth, was sculpted by water.

In a figurative way, organic lines are created to look as if they have no end.

These organic lines are reflected in the proposed space with eroded sea shells, and in the subtle and elegant lines used in the concept to represent water currents.

Observing the topological form of the shell, its fascinating to extract the similarities of their formal structure and compare them to jewels.

We love the analogy of how the jewels are molded, its metal transformed into distinctive shapes, and sometimes dressed up with precious stones.

DESIGN PROPOSAL

Balmaceda’s customized rugs and inlay applications give context to the resort’s proposal by bringing life to the shell metaphor. Delimitating the room with

a sense of motion, color and shapes.

Through fine lines and organic sea movement, we abstracted old sea shells. They tell a life story, with elegant lines that symbolize the movement of water.

We designed a bespoke collection of art and accessories encompassing mosaic, talavera pottery, hand blown glass, palm weaving, embroidery & ceramics.

Balmaceda conceptualized a bespoke pottery collection for this proposal. All pieces would be crafted locally, recalling the classic Mexican pottery style called Talavera.

Blown glass bubble art work that evokes the vivacity and atmosphere of water.

Inspired from Schlumberger designs, we developed an embroidery collection for cushions and textile to prop our furniture selection.

Organic ceramics that simulates corals, designed by Mexican Artist Abel Zavala.

We looked at the ancestral Mayan construction techniques, designed to withstand the erosion of the sea. Celebrating the power of water.

Using materials like the Chukum, a regional material that gives a unique look, where the walls get their own character and texture through time.

Since the material ages from the moment you apply it, this gives a feel of freshness and a sophisticated color palette.

The furniture we curated is simple, organic, elegant, and full of texture. All designed by Mexican artists.

OUR PROPOSAL

The final look merges the sophisticated sense of Tiffany’s classic identity with Balmaceda’s eclectic way of approaching  design.
